I have installed Stata 9 (intercooled) on a new laptop computer. It worked perfectly on my previous laptop. It installed fine on the new computer and with some data files works fine. HOWEVER:
* When I open Stata it says updates are available. When I click "update all", the computer takes some time "collecting ... receiving .... waiting" for the host, then runs some commands, and then comes up with unexpected end of file and r(612). This did not happen on the previous laptop.
* When I open some data files that worked perfectly with Stata 9 on the previous computer, the new laptop informs me that they are not Stata format. If I then use StataTransfer to create a new Stata 9 format file, the new file opens fine. The new data file is slightly larger than the old data file.
