I'm currently completing my undergraduate dissertation titled "The Macroeconomic Determinants of Mental Health", and would appreciate some help interpreting regression coefficients.
My dependant variable is the suicide rate (per 100,000)
My independent variable of interest is the unemployment rate (% of the population who are unemployed)
The coefficient on the unemployment rate is 0.1. I thought the interpretation would be: As the unemployment increases by 1%-point, the suicide rate increases by 0.1%-points. However, this means that 10% of unemployed people commit suicide, which doesn't seem right. Am I interpreting this correctly?
