This is my first post, so please be kind to me.

I have 12 dichotomous variables, that i want to combine to one single variable, with the purpose of cross tabulating the variable with another variable. The problem is, that the respondents have been allowed to choose or not choose up to three of the variables in the battery. How do i do this?

I want the answer in syntax, please.
