Hi all,
I want to start with huge thanks to this forum for the many tips I have received over the years. I hope that the experts here can help with this particular question.
I am comparing the frequency with which women achieve leadership roles in specific fields relative to their overall representation in these fields. I have created a representation ratio, that is the observed percent of women in a leadership position/ the percent of women in that field overall. A representation ratio of 1.0 would be parity - for example 20% of leaders are women, and women make of 20% of the field overall.
How should I compare representation ratios between two different fields in Stata? I have the following data, derived as overall counts from surveys. I do not have the individual survey responses.
Field 1 . Women leaders n=1079, women non-leaders n=2391, women in field 28.5% --> representation ratio 1.09
Field 2 . Women leaders n = 862, women non-leaders n = 1416, women in field 40.1% --> representation ratio 0.94
