Dear Stata Users, I am a research student and I intend to conduct a research on the impact or effect of climate (rainfall shocks) on the wellbeing (Income, Food and nutrition security) of farm households.
Data: I sourced for secondary data thinking it was panel and I realized my data is repeated cross sectional (two rounds, 2012 & 2014). It is a national data for 10 administrative regions, 200 districts (about 20 districts per region) and above 7,000 households.
Approach: I intend to calculate rainfall shocks (binary) for each round using cropping season precipitation data from NASA and find the impact on 1. Income (continues), 2. Consumption Score (continues), 3. FIES (Categorical or binary), 4. Body Mass Index for Under 5 years (categorical/ binary), 5. Poverty severity(binary). Not sure of using only one round or both rounds of survey.
Inquiry: Will need suggestions and update of models on how to estimate the impact or effect of rainfall shock on the outcome variables. Read about stata 17 command “didregress” for treatment effect of cross sectional data but not sure if my data fits since my treatment (rainfall shock) is not between survey rounds (Years) but rather within each round of survey. However, within each round data is collected different time (Month).
