Sorry im still very new too stata and need some help on a research paper proposal.
I've been given a dataset on equity market volatility from 1928-2018 which measured on a monthly time scale . i need to create a line graph that shows the mean result per year instead of monthly result but it also needs to include the variation of maximum and minimum monthly results for each year since my whole paper is based on volatility .
so the question im asking is:
- how do i first summarise the monthly result for each year into 1 mean value from 1928-2018
- how do i include the min/max values in a line graph
the example of a graph i need is attached below, any advice or help is really appreciated,
also if anyone has any recommendations for learning resources id love to hear them
