Dear All,

Is there a formal documentation for creating new graphics schemes? The Stata documentation says delicately:
Finally, other users may have created schemes that could be of interest to you. To search the Internet, type ...
but is silent about the construction of new scheme files.

Michael Mitchell, in his "Visual Guide to Stata Graphics" mentions elegantly:
This section has really focused on the mechanics of creating a scheme but has not much about the possible content that you would place inside a scheme.
then subtly suggests to reverse-engineer the supplied base-schemes.

Kevin Crow notes in Stata tips series
There is a problem with scheme files, however, because unless you know exactly how you want your scheme to be set up, creating a scheme can be very time consuming.
There are, of course, user-written schemes (notably Bischof 2017)

What are the reference materials for this kind of a task?
(beyond the 2006 presentation by Vincent Wiggins)

(no need to describe what colors or line widths are available, but the object model, inheritance precedence, etc)

Thank you, Sergiy
