hi there,
i have a question regarding merging two data sets in order to calculate a change which i then will regress on a dependent variable.
more specific:
i have two datasets from surveys conducted in 2018 and 2019.
whereas the 2018 survey had 120 respondents (with respondent id), the 2019 survey just have 80 respondents (with respondent id).
in both surveys there were the same questions e.g. regarding to the respondents net income (identical data names in both surveys)
now i want to calc the change (in%) of their e.g. net income from 18 to 19, having data from two data sets with the respondent id as an identifier.
is there a way i open the 2019 data set in stata and merge the 2018 data set? so i would like to have a kind of vlookup (responent id as identifier) to have all the data for 80 people as of 2019 survey?
thanks a lot in advance and best regards,
long
