Hello,
I have a question concerning a macro indicator included in my Random-Effects Modell. I am studying the impact of the number of asylum applications on support for the EU. The variable denoting support for the EU is scaled to go from 0 to 1. The number of asylum applications, however, is reported in absolute numbers for each country (e.g., 202645 asylum applications in Germany). When I include both variables in my random effects model, the coefficient of the macro indicator is very small due to the great numbers.
Therefore, I would like to know whether it is allowed to rescale the macro indicator so that I include instead of 202645 --> 2.02645 as the number of asylum applications in Germany. Then, the coefficients are larger.
If it is allowed to rescale the macro indicator like this, do I have to consider something when I interpret my regression table?
Many thanks for your answers,
Pauline
