Hi,
I need to calculate exposure at the tract level, but I don't
understand how ^seg^ works to do this. Massey and Denton
(1988, 288) say that the formula for exposure takes into account
not just racial population counts within the small geographic unit
in question, but also across a larger geographic unit that encompasses
the smaller one. My understanding is that exposure reflects the chances
that an average member of one group (in my case, White people) have of
interacting with a member of another group (in my case, Black people)
in the smaller geographic unit (in my case, census tract), given the
racial make up of the larger geographic unit(in my case, county).
So if I enter:
seg white black, x by(county)
does "county" need to reflect the population count of White, or Black,
people in the county?
