I have four survey waves of data for individuals with a variable on the region they live in "region_code". Unfortunately, these codes are not harmonized across the survey waves and thus the same codes do not represent the same regions across different survey waves. Is there a method I could use to harmonize these codes effectively without spending a lot of time recoding them? I have 1700+ regions and codebooks for each survey wave provide the equivalent region code for each region.
