I have been using Stata on windows 10 for sometime now and recently got a laptop with Ubuntu 20.04 installed. I am trying to install Stata 16 MP 2 (perpetual licensed) on my laptop and I am running into an issue with the flavor of Stata. I followed the instructions on the website - created an installation directory, extracted all files from a downloaded zip folder, installed it, activated the license, and added the directory to the relevant path. However, when I am trying to open Stata using xstata I can only access the Stata IC GUI even though my license is for a Stata MP2. At no point during the installation procedure did I have the option of choosing the flavor. I am not sure what the issue is. I am getting the following error message when I type xstata-mp instead of just xstata into my terminal:
xstata-mp: error while loading shared libraries: libtinfo.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Any comments would be much appreciated!
