Hi Statalist,

I am new to Stata and need help to merge two data sets. The merge or by variables are brand_long in one of the dataset and brand_short in the other. Both are character variables. So i need to identify the substrings (brand_short) in the strings (brand_long) and matched them. I would greatly appreciate any help you can offer.
