I want to generate a new variable from two numeric continuos variables which both have range from 0-100.
I have tried: gen ingen_sen=(v2_Q6_1_resp+v2_Q6_2_resp) but i seems that the data are not combined the way i want. For an example the first variable v2_Q6_1_resp have 1051 respondents answering in the category 0 and the variable v2_Q6_2_resp have 86 respondents answering in the same category. I would like the new variable ingen_sen to have 1051+86=1137 respondent in the category 0, but the new variable i have generated only have 43 respondents...?
