Hello! I have a dataset that includes ICD10 codes, which include both numbers and letters (as seen in my dataex example below). I have 10 columns of diagnoses (included below) labeled dx1, dx1_1, dx1_2,, dx1_3, dx2, dx2_1, dx2_2, dx3, dx3_1 and dx3_2. I would like to create a binary variable that indicates if ANY of these 10 diagnoses includes this group of diagnoses: E10.*, E11.*, E08.*, E09.*, E13.* I am having trouble doing this since the letters/numbers being a string. Can anyone help?
