THERE MUST BE SOMEONE HERE WHO IS ABLE TO DO THIS

Hi everyone,

I'm in a bit of a pickle. I have found exactly the data I need for my thesis project but am unable to retrieve it correctly due to my lack of coding skills.

I am looking for data on a set of variables for selected countries for a period of time. The data is available from the CEDA Archive (freely available after creating an account). The exact database is named CRU CY v4.05 on https://data.ceda.ac.uk/badc/cru/data/cru_cy/cru_cy_4.05/data .

Once I select the CRU CY v4.05 database, I am redirected to a page with folders with one folder for each of the variables available. Within each folder, there are over 200 files (in .per format) with the set of data for the entire time period for one individual country (the files are actually in ASCII). Since I am interested in over 40-50 countries, I would need to download each of these files manually and then find a way to merge them.

I am 200% sure that there has to be an easier and faster way of downloading the data I need ONLY and combining into a dataset I can load onto STATA.

PLEASE ANYBODY WHO CAN HELP I WOULD BE SO GRATEFUL!

More info provided if required.
