I have a panel data of monthly milk yield as a dependent variable and extreme weather ( in terms of percentile-based days) and other independent variables on the other side of the equation. The data is comprised of 100 farms for 15 years. I have run the econometric analysis for the research questions that I have. which are as follows.
1. Are the individual farms were affected by extreme weather over time?
To answer this question, I have used a fixed-effects panel model - within estimator. I have run Hausman tests and other tests to ensure that developed model is econometrically sound.
2. Effect of the 2003 August heatwave on milk yield across 100 farms (Specific event)
To answer this, I have manually demeaned the variables (similar to within deviation) on both sides of the regression equation for the entire dataset and ran linear regression only for that period (2003 Aug) comprises of 100 farms. The reason that I have demeaned is to compare values across farms relative to each farm.
Does the above research questions are correctly reflected in the model or not? Please need advice on this one.
